BIG BROTHER – 9/10/12

September 10th, 2012 | 6 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

Let me just say how great it is to have football back in my life!!  I’m not sure how many of my readers are NFL fans, but I can’t express to you how happy I am to have football back on my Sunday’s!  And, I’m also glad that I only have to endure football AND Big Brother for two Sunday’s out of the season.  It is difficult for me to pass up watching football live to watch some reality television show, but I do so since it is only for two weeks.  Once Big Brother is over, I can return to Sunday being only about football and peace will finally be restored in my life.  I think basketball and baseball should take after football (and golf, for that matter) and only have games on the weekend(s), and one other night of the week (like Monday Night Football – although now, this season, each week there will also be Thursday Night Football).  I just think there is something to be said when you’re only playing one game per week, or you are playing a series (like golf) that runs the entire weekend, each weekend.  It just means more.  The games mean more.  Me giving up my time means more.  When you have games each and every night, there is a discord between you and the viewer.  I know that hardcore baseball and basketball fans will still say that each game means the same to them, but that’s not true.  That is why football is the most popular sport in the world (screw you, soccer) right now.  We don’t have to sit through 162 games, or 82 games, and then have the playoffs drag on for three months before a champion is crowned.  Nobody cares by that point, except for that team’s fans.  Do you ever wonder why the Super Bowl is the most endearing Championship of all sports championships?  It’s because every fan cares.  They love watching football,  because it’s not shoved in our face every single day for 7 months.  We appreciate the game a heck of a lot more.  I’m just rambling now, so let me just get to Big Brother before I tell you all my issues with voting, smoking in public places (I can’t tell you how amazing it is to live in a big city that doesn’t allow smoking indoors in just about every building known to the land), college degrees, and companies who don’t call/email you back as to why you didn’t get the job!  So, don’t get me started…

But, I will get started on what I thought of tonight’s Big Brother episode.  It all started by recapping the previous Live Eviction show, and what happened in between everything that we got to see on air.  We see Ian telling us that he had to get rid of Frank, because Frank was the favorite to win the show if he was sitting in the final two.  This is probably true, but you just never know how the voting would go.

Then, we get to hear how Jenn realizes that she’s all alone now, and understands now that Dan really isn’t on her side.  Dan, realizing she’s going to feel this way, tries to reassure her that he’s sticking with her in this game, but he doesn’t even need to worry about it because Jenn has nowhere else to go, so she has put any trust she has in him, otherwise she’ll just be sitting at the kitchen table by herself, asking herself if she’s ever going to actually put a damn shirt on this season!  I don’t want to sound too much like an a-hole pig, but if you’re Kate Upton, you can probably walk around in your bra and a button-up vest that you never button up, but Kate Upton Jenn is not…

Dan tells us that, after he won the HOH, he wanted to get Ian out, and that is why he nominated him.  He tells Ian that he is only nominating him as a pawn, but obviously Ian is NOT ok with this decision, because he not only knows how often pawns go home in Big Brother, but also that with the game he is playing now, and the people left in the house, he is the biggest threat to Dan to win this game.  So, he should be worried about being nominated, and possibly being voted out by his own alliance.  Dan proves Ian’s worries right, by telling Shane that if, after the Power of Veto competition, the nominations stay the same, they should consider voting Ian out.  Shane freaks out about this a little, walks away yelling “Thanks for your time, Dan” while Dan then tells Danielle to go comfort Shane and get him on board with voting out Ian, if the nominations stay the same.

Ian then goes on and wins the Veto (as we all know), and Dan then considers getting Shaneomac out of the game.  For me, this is the perfect decision.  I do not believe Shane is a threat to win this game whatsoever, but he is a definite threat to win the final HOH and then NOT take Dan to the final two, so he does have to go, if Ian is safe (which he is).  Danielle, obviously, is not on board and it’s at this moment when I realize that Danielle is a shoe-in for final two.  The only wild card in the house that I am not 100% sure of whom would take her to the end is Ian.  For some idiotic reason, I believe Ian would take Dan to the final two.  I don’t know why he would, but I think he would.  Maybe he wants to win against the best or maybe he wants to have a memorable ending to his season, or maybe he just really isn’t all that smart except for when it comes to science.  Who knows, but everybody else in the house is going to take Danielle to the finals with them.  Think about it.  Shane is just as much of a puppy at her feet as she is at his, so he’s taking her.  Jenn knows she stands ZERO chance of even getting one single vote against anyway other than Danielle (and she still probably wouldn’t get a vote, except maybe from Frank).  And, Dan knows his best chance of winning is against her (or Jenn), so you know he’s taking her.  So, congratulations Danielle on winning $50,000 and second place of Big Brother 14.  Unless by some crazy, unruly chance you actually win the final HOH and take Jenn, then congratulations on winning $500,000 and having Big Brother change all sorts of rules next season to save themselves the embarrassment of having some loser come in, do nothing for 75 days, and cash a check for half-a-million dollars.

  1. I think the only two that deserve to win are Dan and Ian, possibly Shane. No one else has done anything in this game. Dan has had some big plans, Ian was a little mole, and Shane just played to save his own hide a few times. Danielle = nothing, Jenn = nothing! But after last night, I don’t care for Ian to win.

  2. I am rooting for Ian! I think if Dan gets to the finals, he may not win. Although he has done a lot in this game, people vote personally (not as much on this show, but I can think of lots of times on Survivor) and I can see people hating Dan. I just don’t see Frank voting for him, etc. The only thing is Danielle and Shane probably would, so it would be smart to take one of those two so only one of them can vote.

Anyways, I think Ian is a good player. He’s not GREAT (like wanting to get Jenn out, who cares, keep her there!), but he does win comps and there’s just something about him that makes me root for him. Maybe because he went against Boogie/ Frank 🙂

  3. Danielle is a stocker. Shane, Ian, Dan & Dan’s wife should be careful of her. She is crazy. When she gets evicted I feel sorry for the jury house.

  4. @ grandma: did you mean to say that Danielle is a stalker?
I have to admit that I am very, very, very, very happy that I missed watching this episode of BB and escaped the torture of seeing/hearing Rachel!
Like Danielle, Rachel is a narcissist, only infinitely worse. Plus, her voice is grating and her laugh makes me want to upchuck.
I can not comprehend why Brendon would marry such a weepy, whiny, needy, clingy, self-absorbed, intellectually-challenged twit. Oh, wait! I forgot about her (hugely fake) cleavage.
Attaboy, Brendon – go for the boobies! But don’t come crying to us when you finally (and inevitably) get sick of having your spirit totally decimated by a soul-sucking leech!
Yes, I admit it. I hate Rachel, even to the point where I did not watch one of my favourite shows (The Amazing Race) during the season where she & Brendon were contestants.
I agree with mtmom. The only HG’s who deserve to win are Dan and Ian. I wouldn’t be angry if Shane were to win, but I honestly don’t think he deserves it.
If either Danielle or Jenn win, I’ll be right pi**ed off (but, seriously, it won’t ruin my life … it’s a GAME).
Cheers to my fellow BB fans!

  5. At this point, I think Ian and Dan are the only two qualified to win, or Shane if hes not up against anybody else. Danielle has played the perfect 2nd place game, and Jenn is smart, she just didn’t play.

I do want to point out that there have been a couple of floater winners in the past. The first was Jun Song (BB4), who perfected the strategy, and manipulated her way all the way to the end with a girl everybody hated. She played an amazing game, but she just couldn’t win anything, which made her only choice the floater way. Then there was Maggie (BB6), who won because she was an evil cult leader. She had her entire alliance convinced that they could not turn on her, even when Janelle and Howie are yelling about how shes going to win the game. She ended up winning due to this. After that, we had drug lord Adam (BB9), who only won because that season sucked and nobody should have won. Those are our floater winners.

With that being said, I don’t think any floater will win this year. Luckily, I also don’t think Dan will win this year either. Britney hates him, and shes a good manipulator, that I think she can convince the jury house to not give him a win, as long as he’s not up against Danielle or Jenn. For example, if he is up against Shane, Shane wins by getting the votes of Ashley, Frank, Britney, Joe, Jenn and possibly Danielle, leaving it either 5-2 or 6-1. If Dan’s against Ian, Ian wins with the votes of Frank, Britney, Joe, and Jenn, leaving it a 4-3 win. Therefore, if we are forced to see pathetic Dan win again, it’s because hes against Danielle (who has a shot, but not a huge one) or Jenn (Jenn receives the vote of Frank, and no one else). Thats my input on tonights episode. DOWN WITH DAN!
