Big Brother Recap – 8/17/15

Either way it goes, during that discussion, the four of them (Jiz, Austin, and Vanessa) decided they’d make a final four deal/alliance, and they’d call themselves “Austin’s Angels.” I’m sure that didn’t feed into Austin’s already built-up ego. Outside of “Sixth Sense,” this season’s cast has been THE WORST at naming alliances. But, that could also be because nobody is even in alliances. I remember the first week or so, every single person was in an alliance with everyone else, but since then, it seems as if that’s just cooled down and nobody is in any alliance with anyone. It’s just a weird season where it seemed everyone came to play those first few weeks, but then after the game really started, they just all stopped.

Anyway, the Trainiator (or whatever her name was from that cartoon) decides she needs to play the game and go and talk to the twins (and Austin) and do her best to try and save herself. And for what it’s worth, she does a pretty good job with the story she tells, only I think it’s a little too late. She tells them all about how Vanessa is a double agent, and sells them out whenever it benefits her more to be aligned with other people. She tells them that when she was HoH, she was 100% behind backdooring Austin that week (which she was, but Austin knew that) and that whenever it seemed as if Shelli and Clay were in better shape, she’d stay closer to them and leave the twins/Austin behind her and vice versa. She’s 100% right that Vanessa is a flip-flopper, but Austin and the twins are in that group that were just happy to make it to jury and continue their vacation, so they don’t really care that Vanessa will cut ties with them at the drop of a hat. Right now, they’re enjoying being in power and will just deal with whatever comes the following week. They’ve gotten so used to being in power that they just assume they’ll never not be in power and be the ones on the chopping block. Plus, as it’s playing out, nobody seems to understand that they’re the tightest three in the house and care to try and target them. Instead, they go after the people who are opening their mouths too much and doing things to rock boats often. So, as it turns out, perhaps Austin’s Jiz is playing the perfect game this season. I’d like to think that nobody would vote for any of those three to win $500,000, but if two of them are in the final 2, they’ll have no choice…

Speaking of incredibly terrible alliance names, who in the f*ck would be happy about being in a “Scamper Squad” named alliance? What the hell does that even mean? And please don’t do that stupid rabbit motion to each other. I think they have the wrong idea of what scamper means anyway. I think they believe it means something about being stealth, when in fact it’s almost the exact opposite. Scamper means to move quickly and hastily, not subtly or quietly. So again, wonderful job naming your well-formed alliance. Go about hastily and quickly let everyone know you’re in an alliance together. Ugh…these people. Seriously, I don’t think I’ll get over this – who would be ok with naming themselves that? I get it that you’re bored, but if you can’t think of a good name, it would be ok to take longer than 3 minutes to come up with one. You can even all leave the room and convene at a later time to discuss after you’ve had a light bulb moment.

I’m not even sure I want to mention the whole Johnny and Vanessa bully argument. Bullies never think they’re being bully. And, it’s a well known fact that a lot of bullies were, at one point, victims of being bullied, so of course Vanessa would take issue with someone thinking she was being a bully (since she cried about it to others that he used that word towards her). And of course it doesn’t matter to her that she ASKED HIM how he felt. This goes back to my previous mention of how nobody wants to hear the truth, they only ever want to hear what they want to hear. He told her how he felt, she didn’t like it, so she acted out, let him know she wasn’t happy, and then just left the conversation with a bit of attitude. I think she did the right thing by leaving, however she may have done better by delving more into the why he felt that way, rather than just getting offended by what he said and deciding to believe she knew why he felt that way, and not care. Everything in life is always a misunderstanding and nobody ever cares to try and understand. Many issues between people can be deescalated if one (or both parties) had an open mind towards the other. But again, I digress…

Because of that argument, Vanessa runs upstairs to Austin’s Jiz and tells them that they need to now target Johnny Mac, you know, just because Vanessa doesn’t like the fact he thinks she’s mean. Makes sense. Again, this is how crazy the house is and why I can understand how it makes people crazy. Johnny does a semi-smart thing and runs upstairs after Vanessa to tell her it looks fishy that she just left a conversation with him to run up to talk to them, but he should have stayed in the room and tried to diffuse the situation, rather than leaving the way he did, only making it more awkward than it already was. Especially since he left making that weird grunting sound he does quite often. And again, tiny things like that are what end up making you a target in this game, even when it’s obvious that you shouldn’t be a target and you have bigger fish to fry. It’s small moments like that which will always end up keeping the Vanessa’s in the house one week longer, all the way up until they end up winning the game. Those moments and production, of course. Because we all know production had nothing to do with Vanessa staying, right?!?

And so the episode ends with Becky and John being nominated. And as of right now, BOTH of them are targets, so we really have no idea what’s going to happen. But at least we know why they were nominated, right? That’s something. So, we’ll wait a few days and then find out who the real target is and who goes home on Thursday. Exciting stuff.

Until then…

  1. Was out of town for a while so I had to binge watch the last 4/5 episodes. I really liked Vanessa up until now – what is with the flip-flopping and cry baby behavior?? She’s taking everything so personally which you can’t do in a game like this. Not sure who to root for now… She kind of went down a few notches for me.

Clay is an f-ing moron for handing over the vote to Shelli. How stupid can he really be? Maybe he thought he was on the Bachelor and not Big Brother and forgot that the end goal was to win money, not a girlfriend. Why would the other houseguests vote him out instead of Shelli? Are they too stupid to know that Shelli’s running that duo? Not that it matters b/c she got the boot in the next elimination anyhow.

Wow Becky sure seemed to let that HOH title go to her head! She was being downright nasty to some of the other people and was pretty high on her horse – too bad NO ONE followed through on her plan – what the hell were they all thinking that every single person voted out shelli? I was kind of surprised by that.

Then Steve – he sure has a delusional view of his stance in the game. His non-existent stance. And after all the bitching he did about Becky and hating her, he nominates two seemingly random people? What the hell??

This season is just so weird to me. Thank God we at least are starting to see some strategizing and game talk among people other than the 6th sense alliance members.

Sorry for backtracking a bit – but these things were bugging me when I was watching these last few episodes!!

  2. Becky mishandled Vanessa and got burned. Same for Johnny. Crybaby Steve is the angels’ bitch.
