Julie lets the houseguests in on the joke that it’s a surprise eviction “episode” tonight and by the end of the 60 minutes, there will be a Veto comp, ceremony, eviction vote, and HoH. The joke is that it’s not really 60 minutes for the houseguests, so there’s no real reason for Julie to tell the houseguests this like it’s live or anything. But, they get all amped up for the “show” and we move on…
Speaking of surprises, Steve is actually surprised that Vanessa kept Austin and Liz safe over him and John…or at least she kept them off the block, I should say. They’re not safe by any means, since either Steve or John could win the Veto and switch everything up. And Steve shouldn’t be surprised one bit by Vanessa doing that as she’s REPEATEDLY shown Steve that she’s playing the game with Liztin more than she is Jeve (Steve and John together?!?). Come on Steve, she’s 100% doing everything she can to keep everyone on her side as long as possible and she just realizes that you and John are weaklings and she can wrong you at every turn and you’ll still come back to her the next week. Liztin on the other hand, seem a little more strong-minded and probably wouldn’t take to the backstab as well, but she still knows she could get them to come around the next week, too. She’s proven that to be true a few times this season after seemingly straying from their alliance and then talking her way back into good graces…
I can somewhat understand Vanessa’s reasoning for wanting Johnny out, but it still doesn’t make complete sense to me. She wants him gone because she feels everyone else in the final 3 would take him over her. BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT……………………………………………………………………….. does she not understand that neither one of Austin or Liz will take her?!? There’s no way in the world she’s convincing Austin to take her over Liz. And Liz actually seems to like Austin, so I think that both of them would consider the other winning as a shared victory. Instead of them alone winning $500,000, they’d both be winning $550,000 (since I believe second place gets $50,000 still). So, they’d both take each other and guarantee that they’d be winning money. So right there, that’s 100% who you get out. If Austin or Liz aren’t there, she can at least entertain a talk with the other to take her to final 3. If both are there, she’s not going anywhere unless she wins HoH. As for Steve and John, she has to believe that those two aren’t joined at the hip the same way and that she could have conversations with both that could get her into the final 3. There’s no reason to get rid of John. If Steve won HoH, she could easily bring up how much Johnny is liked and how many Veto’s he’s won, and if he went on to win an HoH or two in the final few comps, that would just pad his stats. I just don’t get where her thought process is and why she’d keep a showmance to the final 3.
Again, I revert to my earlier blog about this whole luck thing with how poker players belief that they’re smart and not lucky. If she wins, it’s by dumb-ish luck at this point.
Oh Johnny, please tells us all that you’re not serious about throwing the Veto to Austin or Liz?! I mean, you seem a bit of an idiot, but I don’t believe you’re an actual idiot, but if you do intend to purposely throw the comp to one of those two to prove some loyalty to them, I’d add your picture to the “Idiot” wikipedia page right after the comp ended! It’s final 5 and a win in Veto assures you safety. And Vanessa would have to put up one of Liztin and possibly even vote them out, assuring you a better chance at final 3, yet you want to give that away? I’m not sure I follow your strategy. I know you had a conversation with Vanessa in this episode about how you really didn’t have a strategy and the strategy expert herself couldn’t even tell if you had one, but still, you can’t honestly assume this is a good strategy at this point. I hope to goodness that you’re not going to go through with this…
So we move to the Veto comp, where we will find out if Johnny is serious. And before it truly even gets underway, Vanessa is already out?!? This is the racing comp all over again, where she may play it up as she “accidentally” forgot about her timer, but that damn thing buzzes at you and you can hear everyone else running around, so I’m not buying into that and will forever live on in life knowing you threw this comp again. I’m not sure why you felt the need to throw it, because you didn’t have to, and judging by your reaction to Johnny eventually winning the comp, you REALLY didn’t want to throw it for that reason alone, so I’ll just assume you’re pulling a Johnny and don’t really have a clearcut strategy at this point and are just hoping things fall in your lap, a la “good” poker players being deal great cards 75% of the time they play…
And with Mac winning, Vanessa lets us know she’s going to have to find a “new target” for eviction this week. I’m liking how this is sounding, because her getting rid of Steve is almost as stupid as her getting rid of John! In her mind, Steve is probably most likely to take her to final 2 so she absolutely wants to keep him at all cost, so it would appear either Austin or Liz are FINALLY going home!! Which one will she choose? For my liking, it would have to be Liz since she’s more of a threat in comps, but we all know how flawed your thought process is, so we’ll just go ahead and pencil Austin in that nominee chair for now…
Why is Steve making fun of Vanessa? Does he not realize he’s still in danger to go home? You want to make fun of her for having to make a tough decision this week and yet that tough decision COULD be you going home?!? Smooth move, Steve. Chances are great that you’re safe, but you shouldn’t be winking at the camera in excitement that Vanessa needs to come up with a new plan while you’re on the block still and it’s a rushed week with voting…
At the Veto comp, Johnny obviously takes himself down and Vanessa puts up Austin. Oh snap, how right was I?!? It’s still a good move if she does get him out since he’s a threat to win the game, right?!? Would people in the jury really vote for Austin to win? Personally, I don’t think they would as he’s won barely anything and all he’s done in the house is awkwardly make out with Liz and awkwardly play air guitar with Jace and John. Outside of that, he’s just been a part of the dominant “alliance,” but alliances mean dogsh!t this season, so I’m not sure why getting rid of Austin is a big move and why she’d mistakenly make it at this point.
And yes, Vanessa, you’d be stupid to keep #Liztin. Why would you even consider it at this point? This is the perfect “excuse” to get rid of Austin. You HAD to put him up, and you can always just make the argument that you were approached with a better deal and didn’t feel as if he’d take you to final 2. Simple as that. Bye Austin. Go make out with your ponytail beard in the jury house…
Again, Johnny…is production making you have these conversations?!? Why on earth would you get rid of Steve at this point and keep Austin in the game so that you’d then be outnumbered 3-1? And the whole “just to piss off Vanessa” tips it off that production is making him say this stuff because they couldn’t come up with anything better as to the reasoning for doing so. There’s no way he even considered voting Steve out right now. He knows and understands that neither Vanessa, Austin, or Liz have any intention of taking him to final 2, let alone even final 3, so the fact that they’re even using up time in this episode with this crap is exactly that…crap.
Wondering if the next episode will show what Vanessa was talking about with her rationale for kicking out John instead of Liz. Scenes of him making deals and Steve and Liz then telling Vanessa? They should have plenty of time when they are down to 3 players. Will there be an inevitable lengthy “walk down memory lane” by the final 3? I hope not.
